Blowing in the Wind

BLOWING IN THE WIND visitors can use the Science Tower Wind Tunnel (a vertical wind tunnel) to create and launch flying saucers, or put together a model windmill in the Wind Test Zone. The Bernoulli Blower balances a ball in a stream of air and illustrates principles of aerodynamics.
Blowing in the Wind was created by WOW! Children's Museum with inspiration from the Engineer IT! Exhibit from the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). Blowing in the Wind is funded by a generous grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Science and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), Boulder Tier III.

Observe, Ask, Test

An Air Maze in the Science Kitchen: shoot balls through a tube and try to determine where they will come out. What makes them go up and around? Objective: This hand-on problem solving activity encourages children to observe and predict motion. Visitors will experience such principles as centripetal force, acceleration, gravity and momentum.
