New Exhibit Opening in March – LIGHT AND SHADOW

March 3, 2008

Lafayette, Colorado - WOW! Children's Museum (World of Wonder) today announced that the Museum will celebrate the opening of a colorful new exhibit featuring the science of light on March 24th! There will be demonstrations and tours from 11 am – 2pm and crafts throughout the day. All activities are included with admission.

In keeping with The Museum’s theme of learning through play, LIGHT AND SHADOW invites visitors to explore the nature of light and vision with hands-on fun. Refraction in Action uses blocks and mirrors to bend and bounce light through a maze. Play the Illumitune by waving your hands through beams of light. Step into a rainbow of lights to create a Colored Shadow. Write with light. Freeze your shadow. Find out what it’s like inside a Kaleidoscope Closet, and more!

After trying out the Illumitune, member-mom Susan Churchill exclaimed, “I'm still in AWE! The exhibit merges physics and music to create one of the most progressive exhibits we've ever seen...yet it's kid friendly and accessible to everyone!”

LIGHT AND SHADOW was created by WOW! Children's Museum with inspiration from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. LIGHT AND SHADOW is funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) and the Science and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), Boulder Tier III.
